Delicious Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

Smooth cold brew, sweet vanilla syrup, and a rich homemade vanilla sweet cream come together to create a delicious morning brew…. or afternoon for a little pick-me-up.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

Tastes like something you’d grab from your favorite coffee shop, but takes just a few minutes to make at home. The sweet cream is rich without being too heavy, while the cold brew keeps the drink bold and refreshing. Make a batch of the vanilla sweet cream ahead of time, and you’ll have an easy iced coffee ready whenever you want one.

TIPS & SUBSTITUTIONS

Use cold brew concentrate carefully

If you’re using cold brew concentrate rather than ready-to -drink cold brew, dilute it according to the package directions before making your drink.

Make it dairy-free

Replace the heavy cream and milk with your favorite dairy-free creamer or a combination of oat milk and a thicker plant-based cream.

Make it lighter

Substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream or use more milk and less cream. The finished sweet cream won’t be quite as rich, but it’ll still taste delicious.

Turn the sweet cream into cold foam

Froth the sweet cream with a handheld frother until it’s thick and fluffy, then spoon it over the cold brew.

Make the sweet cream ahead of time

Mix a larger batch and store it in an airtight jar in the refrigerator. Give it a good shake or stir before using.

FAQ

Ingredients

For the Vanilla Sweet Cream

  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

  • 2 tablespoons 2% milk

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup

For the cold brew

  • 1 cup cold brew coffee

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup, or to taste

  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Make the vanilla sweet cream

Add the heavy whipping cream, 2% milk, and vanilla syrup to a small glass or jar. Stir or whisk until completely combined.

For a slightly frothier sweet cream, use a handheld milk frother for 10-15 seconds. You want it creamy and lightly aerated rather than whipped into a stiff foam.

  2. Prepare the cold brew

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour the cold brew coffee over the ice.

Add the vanilla syrup and stir until combined.

  3. Add the sweet cream

Slowly pour the vanilla sweet cream over the cold brew.

Leave it layered for that coffee shop look, or stir everything together for a creamy vanilla cold brew.

    Serve immediately.
